Mars Rover Curiosity, Left Side View
This picture of the NASA Mars Science Laboratory rover, Curiosity, was taken for the duration of mobility trying out on June 3, 2011. The vicinity is in the Spacecraft Assembly Facility at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif.
Preparations are on target for shipping the rover to NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida in June and for release at some point of the period Nov. 25 to Dec. 18, 2011.
JPL, a department of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, manages the Mars Science Laboratory challenge for the NASA Science Mission Directorate, Washington. This task will land Curiosity on Mars in August 2012. Researchers will use the equipment on the rover to look at whether or not the landing place has had environmental situations favorable for assisting microbial life and favorable for maintaining clues approximately whether life existed.
